The Twelve (ish) Days of 100% Proof

The New Finder, by A. J. Anderson

You can never escape the past. Death always finds a way.

Post No. 2 of my look back over the last year comes bursting through the door of 2025, boot first and gun locked and loaded. A. J. Anderson’s exhilarating debut thriller, The New Finder, ventures into London’s criminal underworld and draws protagonist Mac reluctantly back into a life he thought he had long left behind him. He’ll journey across Europe to repay a gangland debt, in search of answers and ultimately, retribution.

The Twelve (ish) Days of 100% Proof

The Winter Solstice of 2024 feels like a fitting time to look back over the past year at 100% Proof, introducing some of the brilliant writers I’ve met and the wonderful projects I’ve had the privilege to be trusted with.

This first post, though, is a throwback to 2021 and Melissa L. Cook’s fascinating memoir, The Call of the Last Frontier, which charts her experiences as a teacher with a young family working in a remote Alaskan town. It’s a tender, detailed and sometimes terrifying account of life in one of the world’s harshest climates; a tale of pushing limits and working through adversity, woven through with insights and historical detail about Alaska’s rich history.

Since Melissa’s memoir was published in October of 2021, it has won the Western Horizon Award, been a finalist in the High Plains book award, and has sold over 10,000 copies.

An update…finally!

I’m very proud to have renewed my CIEP membership this week and I am in the process of upgrading my membership to properly reflect what I’ve been up to for the past 6 years. I have been quiet on my social media, but that’s not because I’ve not been editing, in fact quite the opposite! Sometimes life gets in the way of updates (I’m looking at you hectic work schedule, seven-year-old child and global pandemic 👀), but here I am, pledging to do better. Have a browse of my Portfolio to see just a small selection of the brilliant projects I’ve been working on with writers and keep an eye out for more about me and my editing experience in the coming weeks.

100% Proof is expanding!

February and March are exciting  months here at 100% Proof. I’m currently hitting the books and studying online with The Society for Editors and Proofreaders, honing my skills and learning BSI marks for paper-based proofreading. I’m also PhD proofreading for my academic colleagues, helping polish up brilliant research in Criminology.
